The Old Courthouse Inn in Powell River, BC | Ghost Hunting Documentary
Historical Significance
Powell River, BC is an isolated community along the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. It has been a paper mill town, but now the mill is shutting down. The Old Courthouse Inn, owned by Kelly Belanger, sits next to the mill. It was a provincial government building for years before it became an inn.
Without the mill, people didn’t have much of a reason to stay in the heritage site (historic district). Historic hotels, bars and restaurants shuddered, and it got worse with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kelly allowed The Paranormal Roadtrippers to investigate the Inn and tell its history and document its ghosts as a way to boost interest in the area.
Documented Paranormal Evidence

Post-Documentary Results
After The Paranormal Roadtrippers investigation, Kelly (Inn owner) started paranormal investigation weekends. Guests can go to the haunted hotspots and communicate with the ghosts in residence. It’s also spurred interest in Heritage District, which helps preserve the history of the old paper mill town.
In March 2023, “Ghosts at the Inn” was an official selection of the ParaPod Film Festival in Burbank, California.
